Former CFP chair Kirby Hocutt explains biggest problem selection committee will have in 2020

Texas A&M AD Kirby Hocutt served as the chair of the College Football Playoff selection committee in 2016 and 2017, so he knows how difficult decisions can be even under normal circumstances.
Well, we aren’t going to have “normal circumstances” this year amid the COVID-19 pandemic, so the selection committee’s job will be even harder.
In an interview with DallasNews.com, Hocutt said the most difficult thing will be potentially comparing teams that have played a different amount of games (via 247Sports):
“How they will view a team that’s had a chance to play 12 games versus nine games? I don’t know,” Hocutt said. “The more opportunities you have, the more opportunities you have to impress the committee. I think everything would be in play.”
If there’s one thing we’ve learned from years past, it’s that no decision the committee makes will make everyone happy.
Still, this is shaping up to be an interesting and unusual year for the Playoff, and for college football, in general.
