Former Clemson quarterback Chad Kelly announced his commitment to Ole Miss via Twitter on Wednesday.

Kelly was one of the most heralded prep quarterbacks, putting up gaudy numbers in high school. As a senior, Kelly threw or 3,050 yards and 27 touchdowns and rushed for 991 yards and 14 touchdowns for St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute in New York.
However, Kelly’s first collegiate stop was tenuous, at best. After a confrontation with Clemson’s coaching staff during the 2014 spring game was well-publicized, and eventually led to his dismissal. Tigers coach Dabo Swinney said Kelly’s exit was due to “conduct detrimental to the team.”
Kelly then transferred to East Mississippi Community College, from which current Rebels signal-caller Bo Wallace was a product.
He led East Mississippi to a NJCAA national title this season, throwing for 3,906 yards and 47 touchdowns to just eight interceptions. Kelly added 446 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground.
It’s not yet known what the arrival of Kelly will do to the status of backups DeVante Kincaid and Ryan Buchanan, who were expected to compete for the starting job this spring.
