Former college football player who became police officer found dead at 24

Sad news out of San Jose this week: DeJon Packer, a former college football player who became a police officer last year, was found dead. Packer was off-duty when he was found dead in his home Sunday, per ABC7.

Packer played 2 seasons at San Joe City College before transferring to San Jose State ahead of the 2017 season. In 2019, he was San Jose State’s leading rusher with 567 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Packer graduated from the police academy a year ago. San Jose Police shared this week that the circumstances of his passing are unknown.

Packer was 24.
