Former Florida DL Caleb Brantley trying to put draft slide behind him

Shortly before the 2017 NFL Draft, former Florida DL Caleb Brantley was charged with misdemeanor battery for an altercation outside of a bar in which he knocked a woman unconscious.
However, the charges against Brantley were dropped as police said there were conflicting accounts of what happened and a lack of evidence.
Once considered a first-round talent, the ex-Gator fell all the way to the sixth round, where the Cleveland Browns decided to take a chance on him.
With all that seemingly behind him, Brantley is now once again focused on football and told ClevelandBrowns.com that he is excited to show the Browns what he can do this fall:
“I feel like I’m a genuine and great person. I’m out here playing football, the game that I love, and trying to take care of my mom and my brother,” he said. “Obviously, everyone has their opinions on social media and stuff like that, but my teammates can speak for that and the people who know me.”
Brantley will team up with fellow former SEC star DL Myles Garrett this year as they try to help the Browns’ defense rebuild.
If Brantley can stay out of potentially troublesome situations over the coming years, the Browns may have gotten the steal of the draft in the sixth round.
