Former Florida edge rusher Dante Fowler fined by NFL for preseason penalty

Former Florida edge rusher Dante Fowler has been hit with a fine for a recent foul in preseason play. The NFL has fined Fowler over $10,000, insider Ian Rapoport shared this weekend.

Mike Fisher of Sports Illustrated’s Cowboys Country shared what got Fowler benched from the game and fined by the NFL:
The newly acquired edge rusher got flagged for a personal foul when he tried to push an opposing player off a pile. The goof helped Denver score a touchdown in the second quarter.
The Cowboys are Fowler’s fourth team in his NFL career. Out of UF, Fowler was taken No. 3 overall in the 2015 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Fowler played with the Jaguars into the 2018 season before be he was traded to the Los Angeles Rams for a third-round pick in the 2019 draft. Fowler remained with the Rams through the 2019 season.
Ahead of the 2020 season, Fowler signed a 3-year deal with the Atlanta Falcons. He was released after 2 seasons in February 2022. He signed with the Dallas Cowboys in March.
Over 7 years, Fowler has played in 91 regular-season games, starting 40, recording 200 tackles, 35 sacks, 10 forced fumbles and 5 fumble recoveries.
Fowler has played in 6 postseason games with the Jags and Rams, logging 17 tackles and 3.5 sacks.
