Former Florida kicker Eddy Pineiro was released by the New York Jets Tuesday afternoon.

Pineiro holds the Florida record for field goal conversion rate, having made 38 of his 43 attempted from 2016-2017. He also hit 29 of his last 30 attempted field goals for the Gators before starting his professional career.

Pineiro has been on five separate NFL squads in his four NFL seasons. He was first picked up by the Oakland Raiders in 2018 before spending two seasons in Chicago. He saw success there before an injury gave current Bears starter Cairo Santos the permanent starting nod.

Pineiro saw stints in Indianapolis, Washington and finally New York last season before being released Tuesday afternoon. The Jets will likely turn to former Rams kicker Greg Zeurlein to run the Jets’ kicking game in the Big Apple.
