When former Florida OL Marcus Gilbert sat out of Wednesday’s Pittsburgh Steelers practice, it forced the coaching staff to get creative.
C Maurkice Pouncey took some reps at right tackle, working at Gilbert’s position in case the former second rounder can’t play Sunday.
Pouncey told The Beaver County Times that he’s willing to do what it takes to win:
“Whatever the coaches need, whatever the team needs,” Pouncey said. “I know the guys on this team are willing and capable of doing anything they ask. The next man up has to play just as good or better.”
The Steelers will take on the New York Jets at 1 p.m. Eastern time on Sunday. It remains to be seen where Pouncey will start the game, but he’ll be ready at multiple positions.
