The Florida Gators players heading to the NFL played for multiple head coaches. At the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, they’re not shy about comparing those staffs.
DE Jachai Polite called his third season at UF “100 times better literally” than the first two. In the interview clip below, Polite describes an important culture change under Dan Mullen. He says that in previous seasons, Gators players did not take strength training seriously. That’s no longer the case with Nick Savage on the staff.

LT Martez Ivey said one season of training under Savage and learning technique from offensive line coach John Hevesy showed up more on the field than his work from the previous three seasons.

Savage and Hevesy are two of the many staffers who followed Mullen from Mississippi State to Florida.
