Austin Appleby shared some good news on Wednesday, he’s been signed to play quarterback for the San Antonio Alliance of American Football team.

The former Gator won’t be guaranteed the starting spot, however, as the franchise has already agreed to sign former Texas A&M and Oklahoma quarterback Trevor Knight to its roster. These signings make for an interesting dynamic that would engage multiple SEC fanbases before the AAF kicks off its debut season in early 2019 — immediately after the upcoming Super Bowl.

The AAF has reached an agreement with CBS to air games on the network’s sports network/channels.

Here’s Appleby announcing his signing with the San Antonio team:

In his lone season in Gainesville after transferring from Purdue, Appleby threw for 1,447 yards and 10 touchdowns.
