According to Al Iannazzone of Newsday, the Jets are hoping that Perine are hoping that the injury is just a sprain and “there is nothing structurally wrong with Perine’s ankle. Iannazzone details the injury happened when Perine caught a screen pass and fell awkwardly when he was brought down.
Despite Florida’s struggles in the running game in 2019, Perine was drafted at No. 120 overall in the fourth round. In four seasons at Florida, Perine recorded 493 carries for 2,485 yards and 22 touchdowns. Perine also caught 72 passes for 674 yards and 8 touchdowns.
