The commencement of the college football season also means that the start of the NFL season isn’t too far behind. NFL teams named their 53-man rosters official yesterday and seven former Florida Gators made the cut.
- Dominique Easley – New England Patriots
- Jaylen Watkins – Philadelphia Eagles
- Ronald Powell – New Orleans Saints
- Trey Burton – Philadelphia Eagles
- Jonotthan Harrison – Indianapolis Colts
- Marcus Roberson – St. Louis Rams
- Loucheiz Purifoy – Indianapolis Colts
In addition to the Gators that made their respective 53-man rosters, two more former Gators were signed to practice squads.
Running back Jeff Demps and wide receiver Solomon Patton were able to find spots on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers practice squad and will begin their NFL careers there. Patton, who was originally thought to have won the starting returner role was cut over the weekend before signing with the Bucs.
Overall, 39 Gators will be on NFL rosters as active players or practice squad members entering the 2014 season.
