Deandre Baker is officially on an NFL contract.
The New York Giants announced Friday that the former Bulldogs defensive back has signed with the team. According to spotrac, Baker’s deal is estimated to be worth $10,495,976 over four years with a signing bonus of $5,653,437.
Baker, college football’s Jim Thorpe Award winner for 2018, was the No. 30 overall selection and one of three first-round picks for New York in the 2019 NFL Draft. There were no signs of Baker holding out, as he has been participating in the club’s camps and other team activities so far this offseason.
Baker had a special 2018 season, recording 40 tackles (including two for loss), 12 passes defended (two interceptions and 10 pass breakups), a forced fumble and fumble recovery. The Giants are hoping to see those kinds of numbers over the next four seasons (and perhaps longer).
