Following a long search, Devon Gales and his family finally have a lot to build a home on. Even better than that news, the lot won’t cost the family a cent thanks to former Georgia Bulldog Whit Marshall.
Gales’ story is well-known to any Georgia fan, the former Southern receiver was paralyzed on a hit during his team’s appearance in Stanford Stadium back in 2015. Since that time, the Georgia family has rallied around Gales and his family, offering a wide range of support over the years including helping raise money for the family to help Gales transition to life following his devastating injury.
That generous spirit continues to this day with the latest example coming from the actions of Marshall. The former Bulldog linebacker has donated the lot the Gales family selected to build their new home, which will be designed to be accessible for all of Gales’ needs moving forward.
“We are a Georgia family and feel privileged to play a small role in helping this project become a reality,” Marshall said to Brandon Sudge of The Macon Telegraph. “Devon and his family have been through a lot over the last two years and continue to persevere and keep such a positive attitude under these difficult circumstances. They deserve to be together.”
In total, fundraising efforts have helped raise around $250,000 for Gales and his family.
