Patrick Reed is a controversial figure in Georgia golf history, as he left school after only one year to transfer to Augusta State following a couple of underage drinking incidents.

However, there were also rumblings of more serious offenses, including cheating on the course and stealing from teammates, according to 13WMAZ.com.

On Sunday, though, Reed had his best day as a pro, claiming his first career green jacket by winning the 82nd Masters tournament at Augusta. Reed led for a majority of the tournament, holding off threats from Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler and other big-name golfers.

Spieth finished in second place at 13-under par, with Reed claiming the title after shooting a -15 over the course of four rounds.

Don’t expect Georgia fans to root for him, though, especially after Reed tweeted this photo before the Bulldogs took on Notre Dame in South Bend during the 2017 season:

To be fair, Reed is a longtime supporter of the Irish, but that won’t win him any favors in the Peach State. Still, he’s the Masters champion, and no one can take the green jacket away from him.
