Former Georgia lineman Michael Barnett has landed with a team to start his NFL career.

The defensive tackle, who went undrafted in the spring NFL Draft, was hurt by the Georgia Pro Day being called off this past spring. But he’s signed with New England, according to Mike Reiss of ESPN. Barnett played the last four seasons at Georgia where he was a regular contributor. He joins Isaiah Wynn, David Andrews and Sony Michel among former Georgia players in New England.

“In a lot of ways it stinks, because you train so long for this specific date,” Barnett, a former game captain, said upon first hearing the news, according to the Dawg Nation of the AJC. “But with the unfortunate effect of the coronavirus, and the things going on, you understand.”

At Georgia, made 23 total tackles with one pass defensed in for the Bulldogs during the 2019 campaign. Barnett also played some defensive end at Georgia, and he’s listed at 6-foot-4 and 304 pounds.

Barnett played in 13 of 14 games in 2019, started six, with 23 stops and three QB pressures; two tackles, one TFL assist and two QB hurries in win at Tennessee. He had a career-high five stops in his first game started against South Carolina.
