Reports came out on Friday indicating that many suitors are lining up for a former Georgia RB. The news was reported by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

The Detroit Lions ended up picking former Alabama RB Jahmyr Gibbs with the 12th overall pick. Multiple NFL teams are now reportedly showing interest in trading for former Georgia RB D’Andre Swift because of the move.

Swift played in Athens from 2017-2019 and appeared in a total of 43 games while compiling 3,551 total scrimmage yards with 25 total touchdowns. The Lions took Swift in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

One reason that could have led to Detroit taking Gibbs was because of injury concerns involving Swift. Swift has not played a full season’s worth of games since entering the league. The most games he’s played in so far came last year with 14.

The Lions took a big step forward in the right direction last season. Despite not making the playoffs, Detroit finished the regular season with a 9-8 record.

In 2021 the Lions ended the year with a 3-13-1 record. It looks like progress is being made through the guidance of HC Dan Campbell.

Swift has not been with any other NFL team so far in his professional career. It’ll be interesting to see what teams are eying him.
