All the Georgia coaching spots are full, but one big name is clearly on the waiting list.

Hines Ward, who starred at Georgia from 1994-97 before doing the same with the Pittsburgh Steelers, reiterated his interest to Fox in wanting to coach at his alma mater in an interview with Fox 5 Sports.

Here’s a part of that discussion, transcribed by Dawgs247.

“On the college level, it was very intriguing, because I think I have a lot to offer,” Ward said. “I have been where these kids want to go, being a Georgia guy. I live here in Georgia. Georgia is my passion. I think I have a lot to offer. And I always wanted to give back to my University. To give back the knowledge of the game.”

More specifically, Ward feels like he’d do a good job as a recruiter, and his main priority would be to build the proverbial wall around the Peach State.

“The one thing that irks me is we are losing great talent. To see the quarterback at Clemson (Deshaun Watson) leave Gainesville to go there. We have all this great talent in this state, and I want to keep our great talent in-state,” Ward said. “I just want to put my hand in the pile and I want to see Georgia have success. I want to see Georgia playing in that national championship because we can do it. We have the talent in-state.”

Ward had told SEC Network’s Paul Finebaum of that same interest back in December.
