NFL teams have until 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday to cut their training camp rosters to 53 players, meaning plenty of decisions to be made around league front offices.
One of the players cut by his team is former Georgia wide receiver Lawrence Cager, who was let go by the New York Jets on Monday.
Cager, who transferred to Georgia from Miami prior to the 2019 season, made 33 catches for 476 yards and 4 touchdowns that year. His best game came in the Cocktail Party against Florida, where he made 7 catches for 132 yards and a touchdown.
He signed as an undrafted free agent with the Jets in May 2020 and was eventually signed to the practice squad after being waived. He played in a Week 3 contest against the Indianapolis Colts and recorded 35 yards on a pair of catches.
Now, with Cager having cut by the Jets and out of the running to make their 53-man roster for 2021, it’s entirely possible they sign him to the practice squad once more.
