Former Georgia WR AJ Green made sure he retired a Cincinnati Bengal.

Green returned to Cincinnati to sign a 1-day contract with the Bengals before he formally retired from the NFL.

Green had a standout Georgia career, playing for Mark Richt from 2008-to-2010. He was named SEC Freshman of the Year in 2008 and earned All-SEC recognition all 3 seasons. Green was a first-team All-American in 2009 and ’10.

The Bengals drafted Green with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. Green spent his first 10 professional seasons in Cincinnati, missing all of 2019 due to injury. He was selected to the Pro Bowl 7 consecutive seasons from 2011-17.

Green retires as one of the all-time Bengals greats. He is second among Cincinnati receivers all-time in receptions (649), receiving yards (9.430) and touchdowns (65). Green had career years in 2012 (97 catches, 1,350 yards, 11 touchdowns) and 2013 (98 receptions, 1,426 yards, 11 TD), earning All-Pro recognition.

After his time with the Bengals, Green played for the Arizona Cardinals in 2021 and ’22. His time with the Cardinals gave him final regular-season career numbers of 727 catches for 10,514 yards and 82 touchdowns.

Green announced in February that he would not be playing the 2023 season and retiring from the NFL.
