Former Kentucky DE Za’Darius Smith fined by NFL for late hit

The NFL has handed out another fine for a late hit.
Charean Williams with Pro Football Talk reported Friday evening that the NFL has fined former Kentucky DE and current Baltimore Raven Za’Darius Smith for a late hit. The roughing-the-passer penalty came against Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger.
Smith received a penalty for the shot to the head, and he has also been fined $18,231 by the NFL for the hit. Smith has 24 tackles and 7.5 sacks in his career with the Ravens.
Smith played well during his time with the Wildcats. He finished his career with 119 tackles, 14 TFL, and 11 sacks. He was drafted in the fourth round of the 2011 NFL Draft by Baltimore.
