Former Kentucky LB Bud Dupree reaches plea deal in assault case

Bud Dupree struck a deal with prosecutors Monday to plead guilty to a misdemeanor assault charge as a result of a scuffle with an employee at a Nashville-area Walgreens in January.

TMZ reports that Dupree will be on unsupervised probation for 6 months and will pay $418 in court costs. The linebacker signed a five-year $82.5 million contract with the Tennessee Titans in 2021.

Dupree, 29, was a standout at Kentucky from 2011-2014. He had 34.5 tackles for loss and 23 sacks in 4 years with the Wildcats. Dupree was drafted in the first round (22nd overall) by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2015 NFL Draft.

He has 248 tackles, 42.5 sacks and nine forced fumbles through seven seasons in the NFL with the Steelers and Titans. Dupree spoke about the work he was putting in at camp during Sunday’s practice.

“Just trying to work on something every day…staying flexible and staying athletic,” Dupree said. “Being in the right spot, not on just pass rush plays and run plays, but coverage.”
