Former Kentucky star fired as head coach at Samford

Since 2014, former Kentucky star and ex-Wildcat assistant coach Scott Padgett has been the head coach of the Samford men’s basketball team.

However, after going 13-20 in 2019-20, the Bulldogs have decided to part ways with Padgett.

Per AD Marvin Newton, Samford appreciates the service Padgett provided over the past 6 seasons:

“I want to thank Coach Padgett for his service to Samford University and I sincerely appreciate his efforts on behalf of the program and our student-athletes,” Newton said.

Padgett went 84-115 in his 6 years at the helm of the program. The Bulldogs never made it to the NCAA Tournament, but did go to the CIT in Padgett’s third year.

Padgett was a part of Kentucky’s 1998 title-winning team. He was also the SEC Tournament MVP in 1999.
