Les Miles is a Michigan man.

The former LSU coach played for the Wolverines from 1974-75 and served as a graduate assistant from 1980-81. He was also on the Michigan staff from 1987-1994 as the offensive line coach.

However, according to former LSU AD Skip Bertman, when his alma mater came calling in 2011, offering more money than LSU, Miles said no thanks and stayed put in Baton Rouge:

The Wolverines settled on Brady Hoke, who was then fired after the 2014 season, paving the way for Jim Harbaugh to take over as coach.

Miles will almost certainly land on his feet at another top college program, but Harbaugh seems unlikely to lose his post with the Wolverines any time soon.
