Former LSU DB Grant Delpit delivers unique way Browns could prepare for Derrick Henry
Former LSU defensive back Grant Delpit knows his Cleveland Browns are in for a tough task in NFL Week 8. The team is facing off against Derrick Henry and the Baltimore Ravens who are currently in 1st place in the AFC North.
A big reason why the Ravens are in 1st place is because of the star running back and former Alabama workhorse. Henry leads the NFL in rushing yards with 873 while the 2nd place RB has over 200 fewer yards than Henry.
Delpit was asked about how his defense is preparing for Henry, and the former Tiger offered a humorous response.
“He’s big, you know. He’s pretty big, he’s got size,” explained Delpit. “So we’re just going to put Dawand (Jones) at scout team running back and just let him give us a good look.”

For those who don’t know, Jones is an offensive lineman and one of the largest NFL players. Jones stands at 6-foot-8 and weighs in at 374 pounds. Ironically, the massive lineman probably does present a good option as a practice run for the hulking Henry.
Henry has surpassed 100 rushing yards 4 times already in 2024, and the Browns are allowing an average of 126.1 rushing yards per game. Delpit has been a bright spot on a 1-6 Browns team, with 37 tackles and 4 tackles for loss.
Before starring for the Browns, Delpit starred for the Tigers. The DB was a vital member of the 2019 team that won the College Football Playoff National Championship and won the Jim Thorpe Award that season.
