Philadelphia QB Carson Wentz has earned all the attention for the hot start he’s had to his rookie season and deservedly won the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Month award for September.
But, on the defensive side of the ball, former LSU LB Deion Jones, now a member of the Atlanta Falcons, has made a quieter impact on his new team.
Jones, a second-round pick, has recorded 25 tackles and has defended two passes. However, his most notable play came on Monday night against New Orleans, when he intercepted a pass and returned it 90 yards for a touchdown.
For his significant contributions to an improved Atlanta defense, Jones earned the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Month honors, according to The Advocate.
Former Alabama WR Julio Jones also earned NFL Rookie of the Month honors for his stellar performance back in 2011.
