The Tampa Bay Buccaneers pulled off a huge upset on Sunday beating their division rival Atlanta Falcons in overtime, but the real story came after the game where Bucs teammates rallied around the game’s defensive standout, Kwon Alexander, who played just days after losing his little brother to gun violence.
Not only did Alexander, a former defensive standout at LSU, suit up for the game, but Tampa Bay wouldn’t have won without him, as the rookie linebacker combined for 11 tackles, forced two turnovers (fumble and an interception), and received the game ball from an emotional locker room full of teammates.

After what had to be the toughest game of his career, the 2014 All-SEC Second Team Linebacker finally succumbed to a heavy heart.
Alexander told ESPN reporters after the game, “It’s been hard, man. He was my little brother, but I know he’d want me to be strong for him, and I came out here and dedicated this game to him,” he added. ” [I was] very determined because [he] wanted me to do it. All he wanted me to do is ball, so dedicated it to him.”
There’s no doubt that anybody who heard his story was rooting for this kid on Sunday, but calling him the best player on the defensive side of the ball is no exaggeration when he made plays like this against the NFL’s leading wide receiver.

The Bucs take on the Giants at home next week as you can expect Alexander to be back out there with the support of his teammates, family, and younger brother watching over him.
