Former LSU standout Andrew Whitworth slams NFL Top 100: ‘It’s a joke’

Former LSU standout Andrew Whitworth has made quite a name for himself as a football player ever since he joined the Tigers in 2002.
In fact, he started making a name for himself right away down in Baton Rouge. Whitworth started all 13 games for LSU as a freshman and was named a first-team freshman All-American as well as first-team freshman all-SEC.
From that start to a Super Bowl win with the Los Angeles Rams this past season and a Hall of Fame jacket likely on the way, you could say that Whitworth has done just fine for himself.
All that is to say that when Whitworth has a football opinion, it carries some weight. That’s especially true if it’s an opinion that NFL public relations probably wouldn’t like too much. An opinion like this one that he dished out on the NFL Top 100 list:
Has been for a really long time sir
It’s a joke! Content filler!
Just do a live show and let the tv talent pick it. That way it’s at least a real opinion. False claims that all the players vote on it as well. My bad, but just keeping it real ??♂️ https://t.co/bswsfk1Zbb— Andrew Whitworth (@AndrewWhitworth) August 15, 2022
In a follow-up Tweet, Whitworth replied to an apparent fan who was suggesting that the NFL uses the Top 100 list for conversation purposes.
Not so fast, said the LSU legend:
Not marketed like a “conversation piece”or presented that way. It’s presented like an award.

Of course, isn’t this all just peak preseason? The same can be said for college football’s preseason Top 25 list. It’s all just meaningless hype until the pads start popping.
Actual football can’t get here soon enough.
