Former Mississippi State LB Jamar Chaney takes head coaching job at HS alma mater

Former Mississippi State LB Jamar Chaney has gotten into coaching, taking the head coaching job at his high school, St. Lucie (Fla.) West Centennial.

Chaney graduated from St. Lucie West Centennial in 2005, signing with MSU as a three-star recruit. After his Bulldogs career, Chaney was drafted by Philadelphia Eagles in 2010 as the No. 220 overall pick. He played with the Eagles, Atlanta Falcons, Denver Broncos and Oakland Raiders from 2010-14.

“The sport of football has done a lot for me in my life, getting a degree, making it to the NFL and just being able to use my platform to help and inspire young athletes,” Chaney told Jon Santucci of tcpalm.com. I’m telling them that through hard work, they can do anything. Now, being a head coach, I can take them to another level and really motive them and help those young boys coming in.”
