Former Mississippi State star Jake Mangum records first hit in an MLB uniform

Mississippi State baseball fans won’t soon forget the contributions outfielder Jake Mangum made over the past few seasons.
Now, he’s a prospect in the New York Mets’ organization and got a chance to play in a spring training game on Saturday.
As you can see below, Mangum dribbled a ball toward third base and beat the throw to first for his first hit in an MLB uniform:

Considering how many hustle plays Mangum made at Mississippi State, this sort of hit won’t surprise anyone in Starkville.
After all, Mangum is the SEC’s all-time leader in hits, breaking the record with this blooper last year:

It’s still early in spring training, so we’ll see what team he gets assigned to within the organization when squads break camp before the regular season begins.
