Smith called out several players and preached about outworking opponents. Odom said that the former All-Pro defensive end would be “around the program,” although “not in an official capacity” after moving back to Missouri following his retirement in 2015.

Smith spent three seasons at Mizzou and earned first-team All-American honors as a junior in 2001. He was selected No. 4 overall in the 2001 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals.
Smith recorded 880 tackles, 87 sacks, 17 forced fumbles and three interceptions during his 14 NFL seasons for the Bengals (2001-07) and the San Francisco 49ers (2008-14).
