When former Mizzou QB Chase Daniel was shopping for a new team this offseason, he nearly chose the Dallas Cowboys.
With the Cowboys looking for a backup for Tony Romo, the ex-Tiger was interested in playing for his hometown squad, according to Star-Telegram.com:
“There was real interest on both sides,” Daniel said in a phone interview. “It would have been awesome to play back home. Coach [Jason] Garrett is putting together a winner. They’re a well-coached team. The offensive line is probably the best in the game. The quarterback room is great, and I have a lot of respect for [quarterbacks coach] Wade Wilson.
“Tony Romo is the face of the Cowboys, so it would have been fun.”
Daniel, obviously, ended up choosing the Philadelphia Eagles over the Cowboys, where he now serves as the backup for rookie Carson Wentz.
With Dak Prescott’s success in Dallas this year, though, it’s worth wondering what would have happened if Daniel had gone home to the Cowboys.
