Former Mizzou Tigers running back Cody Schrader has been officially claimed off of waivers from the San Francisco 49ers by the Los Angeles Rams. He didn’t last long, either, which should come as no surprise to Mizzou fans after the college career he had.

Schrader will enter the 53-man roster, meaning that the Rams will be cutting a member of the team in order to make room for him. The rusher carried the ball 18 times for 48 yards, catching 2 passes for 8 yards in the preseason. He played a bigger role on special teams though, returning 4 kickoffs for 120 yards.

The undrafted underdog rushed for 1,627 yards and 14 touchdowns in his final year with Eli Drinkwitz’s team. He also reeled in 22 passes for 191 yards in 2023. Before transferring to Mizzou, he played for four years at Truman, rushing for 2,074 yards and 25 touchdowns in 2021.

How the Rams utilize Schrader as he joins a position room that includes three other running backs remains to be seen, but there’s reason to believe that they’ll kick the tires on him as a member of special teams.
