Former Ohio State star wide receiver and current Columbus Aviators coach Ted Ginn Jr. will miss coaching Sunday’s Aviators game after being arrested and charged Saturday night for driving while intoxicated.
Ginn, whose Aviators are set to take on the Dallas Renegades in Frisco, Texas, on Sunday (Noon ET, ABC) was booked by the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Department and later released after posting a $1,000 bond Saturday.
WSYX-TV in Columbus, Ohio, reported that the Euless Police Department stopped the 41-year-old Ginn at 12:58 am Saturday and was given a field sobriety test.
“We are aware of an incident involving Head Coach Ted Ginn Jr. over the weekend and are in the process of gathering more information,” UFL president and CEO Russ Brandon said in a statement. “Offensive Coordinator Todd Haley will handle the head coaching duties for the Aviators game on Sunday.”

Ginn was the No. 9 overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins after a stellar career at Ohio State that saw him rack up 4,068 all-purpose yards and score 26 touchdowns. He played 14 seasons in the NFL with six teams – the Dolphins, 49ers, Panthers, Saints, Cardinals and Bears – before retiring in 2020.
Ginn was named the Aviators’ coach in December and was off to an 0-2 start to the 2026 season.
