An Ex-Ole Miss player committed to Deion Sanders at Colorado on Monday. It was a former Rebel DE.

J.J. Hawkins was a member of the 2021 class as a 3-star DL prospect per the 247Sports Composite. He announced his intentions to play for Sanders in 2023 via social media.

Hawkins appeared in four games for the Rebels during the 2022 season. In 2021, he opted to redshirt as a freshman. He recorded 1 sack in those four games he played in.

Sanders will be taking over for a Colorado program that won one game during the 2022 season. That win came against Cal in overtime.

Some of the more recent transfers out of the Ole Miss program include WR Brandon Buckhaulter, OT Falentha Carswell, LB Reginald Hughes, LB Danny Lockhart, and CB Markevious Brown to name a few.

Lane Kiffin coached Ole Miss to eight wins in 2022. Its season ended with a 42-25 loss to Texas Tech in the Texas Bowl.

The Rebels were 8-1 heading into November, but then lost three games in a row to close out the regular season.

Sanders and Colorado have seen many players walk out the door via the transfer portal this offseason. Over 50 players have now left the program.

It looks like one will be transferring into Colorado for a change.
