Former Ole Miss QB Jordan Ta’amu is parlaying a strong season in the XFL into a contract with an NFL team.

The XFL announced Friday that Ta’amu has signed an NFL contract with the Minnesota Vikings. While Kirk Cousins is entrenched as the team’s starter and the organization drafted BYU QB Jaren Hall this spring, Ta’amu will fight for a spot on the depth chart.

Ta’amu was a prolific passer while at Ole Miss, throwing for over 3,900 yards with 25 total touchdowns during the 2018 season. Unfortunately, that team finished 5-7 under head coach Matt Luke and Ta’amu went undrafted coming out of college.

Ta’amu most recently played for the D.C. Defenders in the XFL and shined. He appeared in 10 games and finished 3rd in the league with 1,894 yards passing with 14 touchdowns.

Among qualified QBs, Ta’amu led the league with 8.3 yards per attempt. He also completed 62.4% of his passes and had just 3 interceptions. Now, Ta’amu gets another shot at the NFL this fall.
