Former Ole Miss WR Cody Core signs new deal to remain with Giants

Even with a coaching change, Cody Core will remain a New York Giant.
The former Ole Miss wide receiver agreed to a deal to remain with New York, signing a deal reportedly worth $4.7 million over two years. The former Rebel has earned the reputation of “special teams ace.” While 53-man active rosters in the NFL do not allow any many clubs to keep primary special-teamers, it probably helped Core that new Giants head coach Joe Judge is a former special teams coach himself and that special teams coach Thomas McGaughey is one of the few staffers Judge opted to retain.
The Giants appear to value Core’s excellent speed, as he registered as one of the fastest players on the team last season. If needed, Core can be used as a receiver. Last year, he caught three passes for 28 yards.
Core originally played for the Bengals after Cincinnati selected him in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Last season was Core’s first with New York.
