Walker Howard was one of the top recruits in the 2022 cycle. But he’s bounced around a bit during his college career.
Howard is now at Louisiana, about 15 minutes from where he went to high school in Lafayette. And according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, he has been named the Ragin’ Cajuns’ starting quarterback for 2025.
Howard, rated by 247Sports’ Composite as a top 5 quarterback and a top 40 player nationally, initially signed with Brian Kelly and LSU out of high school. He spent just 1 year there before entering the transfer portal and landing at Ole Miss. He appeared in four games across 2 seasons with Lane Kiffin‘s program.
After 2 years in Oxford, Howard was back in the portal. With one season remaining in his college career, he’ll look to help his hometown team take the next step following a strong 2024 campaign.
After back-to-back 6-7 seasons under Michael Desormeaux, the Ragin’ Cajuns were on the upswing in a big way in 2024, finishing 10-4 overall and 7-1 in the Sun Belt’s West Division. They lost to Marshall, 31-3, in the conference championship game.
Louisiana was then selected to the New Mexico Bowl vs. TCU, the Ragin’ Cajuns’ 6th straight bowl appearance.
