Former South Carolina QB Jason Brown is off to a strong start in his final collegiate season. Brown completed 26-of-33 of his passes for 361 yards and 3 touchdowns as he led Jackson State to a 37-7 win over the South Carolina State Bulldogs on Saturday in the Cricket MEAC/SWAC Challenge Kickoff.

Brown spent the first four years of his collegiate career at Saint Francis in Pennsylvania. He transferred to South Carolina, where he would play in 7 games, starting in 4 of them. That season, he completed 60-of-108 of his passes for 721 yards, 8 touchdowns, 6 interceptions and a quarterback rating of 125.

Brown’s high in passing yards at South Carolina was 193 in the 31-28 road loss to the Missouri Tigers. In the following season, Brown transferred to Virginia Tech, where he would have limited playing time for the Hokies.

Brown takes over the starting quarterback spot after Shedeur Sanders transferred to Colorado along with his father and former head coach Deion Sanders left Jackson State. Former Jackson State quarterback and offensive coordinator T.C. Taylor is the new head coach of Jackson State.
