After making it to the final round of roster cuts with the Atlanta Falcons this summer, former South Carolina RB Brandon Wilds is finally getting the call with the New York Jets.

Wilds was promoted from the practice squad after the Jets cut RB C.J. Spiller and WR Jeremy Ross. The former Gamecock, who went undrafted, topped all Atlanta running backs in preseason with 21 carries for 86 yards, but was released in the final round of cuts. New York signed Wilds to its practice squad and promoted him to the active roster Wednesday.

The 6-foot, 220-pounder ran for 1,844 yards and 13 touchdowns in his career at South Carolina where he frequently battled injuries.
