Former Gamecocks wide receiver Moe Brown announced Wednesday that he’s running for Congress. According to his website MoeForCongress.com, Brown is running in the 5th Congressional District.

He announced his candidacy via social media, which included a video below.

“I’ve led teams my entire life,” Brown, 31, said in a statement via TheState.com. “Right now Washington needs leaders who can bring people together and start delivering real results for working families. We are more divided than we’ve ever been in my lifetime and Congress seems more interested in playing politics than solving problems.”

The Anderson, South Carolina, native was a 3-star signee in the class of 2006 with the Gamecocks. He was the 65th best high school receiver in the country, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. Brown amassed 85 catches for 1,124 yards and four touchdowns during his four-year career spanning from 2006 to 2009. He played for then-head coach Steve Spurrier.

Brown currently works for accounting firm Dixon Hughes Goodman LLP in Charlotte, North Carolina.
