Ex-Tennessee cornerback Jermod McCoy is bullish on the future of Ty Redmond.

While speaking to reporters at the NFL Combine on Thursday, McCoy predicted All-America upside for Redmond, who will be entering his sophomore campaign in 2026.

“I think Ty is going to be an All-American next year for sure,” McCoy said. “After the year he had, he learned a lot from me and Colton [Hood]. So next year is for sure his year.”

McCoy also highlighted Redmond’s tremendous size and skill, which should help him take a big step forward in 2026. Here’s a clip of McCoy’s comments:

Tennessee will be hoping McCoy’s prediction comes true. The Vols are looking to take a big step forward on defense in 2026 as they hope to contend for the SEC Championship next fall. Per the latest odds on Kalshi, Tennessee has a 10% chance to win the SEC in 2026:

McCoy and Rickey Gibson were projected to be Tennessee’s cornerbacks in 2025, but injuries meant it was actually Hood and Redmond who saw the vast majority of the action. Hood excelled and is expected to be a high pick in this spring’s NFL Draft alongside McCoy.

Redmond played 448 pass snaps as a true freshman according to Pro Football Focus, the most of any Tennessee cornerback. He earned an excellent 81.6 coverage grade from PFF.
