Former Texas Tech WR Danny Amendola played in Lubbock for legendary coach Mike Leach, and it isn’t a secret the love and respect he had for his former coach.

Earlier in the week, Amendola delivered an incredible performance on ‘Dancing With the Stars’. After he finished the dance, he dedicated the performance to Leach, who passed away nearly 2 years ago.

“He sold us a dream that we could pay by hard work and dedication,” Amendola said. “Being a coach is a very selfless job and I miss him dearly and that one was for him.”

Amendola played for Leach from 2004-2007, finishing his Texas Tech career with 204 catches for 2,246 yards and 15 touchdowns. His senior was by far the best season he had, as he had 109 catches for 1,245 yards and 6 touchdowns. He was also a big-time punt returner, finishing with 1,283 punt return yards and an 11.1 yards per return average.

Amendola went on to have a very good NFL career, finishing with 617 catches for 6,212 yards and 24 touchdowns. He won 2 Super Bowls in the NFL with the New England Patriots before retiring in 2022.
