Former Vanderbilt DB Andre Hal lands three-year, $15 million extension

Andre Hal had 48 tackles last season for the Houston Texans. Hal, a former Vanderbilt Commodore, also notched three interceptions for the NFL’s No. 1 defense in 2016.
On Thursday, he landed a sweet deal. Hal signed a three-year extension (from 2018 to 2020) worth $15 million as the Texans’ starting safety.
Apparently, $7 million of that deal is guaranteed, according to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle.

“Hal is an unsung starter for the Texans, playing an important role on the league’s No. 1 defense,” a report from ProFootballTalk stated. “Houston lost starting strong safety Quintin Demps in free agency, with Corey Moore expected to fill that void this season.”
Hal played for Vanderbilt from 2010 to 2013. He started games in all four years of his college career (full-time in ’12 and ’13), and as a senior, earned second-team All-SEC honors. Hal led the SEC with 18 passes defended his senior season.
