Former Vanderbilt wideout Trent Sherfield catches Trey Lance’s first NFL TD pass
Former Vanderbilt wide receiver Trent Sherfield has a new home for the 2021 season with the San Francisco 49ers, and that union is off to a great start.
With 5:41 to play in the first quarter of the 49ers’ game with Detroit, the 6-1, 219-pounder caught the first of what is expected to be many touchdown passes from San Francisco rookie QB and the No. 3 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Trey Lance:

Sherfield was an undrafted free agent coming out of college but he managed to stick in the NFL, playing the last 3 seasons in Arizona, where he had a combined 28 catches for 340 yards and a touchdown.
He hauled in 136 passes for 1,869 yards and 9 touchdowns during his 4 years with the Commodores.
