The four Auburn sophomores arrested in April for marijuana possession will not be appearing in court this week after all, as defensive end Byron Cowart, receiver Ryan Davis and defensive backs Carlton Davis and Jeremiah Dinson have been granted a continuance by the Auburn municipal court office.

Michael Niziolek of the Ledger-Enquirer was the first to report the news. The four players were due to appear in court Thursday but will now have until Sept. 1, two days before the season opener against Clemson, before making their court appearance.

The four players are all now expected to be in court Thursday, Sept. 1.

During the opening day of this year’s SEC Media Days, head coach Gus Malzahn announced following their arrests, none of the four players would be suspended to start the season.

“Those four men made a mistake, we punished them and they won’t miss any time,” Malzahn said at Media Days. “That’s behind us. Four fine young men, they made a mistake and I’m confident they won’t make any more.”
