Throughout the years, the Florida-Georgia rivalry has been defined by some of the most outstanding players in SEC history, and the rivalry is so fierce and respected that it has its own Hall of Fame.
Four players — two from each team — are set to join that ring of honor when the rivalry is reignited next month.
Gator greats Alex Brown and Percy Harvin, along with Bulldogs standouts Aaron Murray and Boss Bailey, will be the newest inductees into the 2018 Florida-Georgia Hall of Fame on Oct. 26, the City of Jacksonville announced in a press release. They’ll join the 101 coaches and players already enshrined in the Hall, which was created in 1995.
Brown, a defensive lineman from 1998-2001, holds Florida’s current record of 33 career sacks and was a two-time All-American. Harvin made waves on the other side of the ball as a receiver/running back for the Gators from 2006-08, when he compiled more than 1,800 rushing yards and 1,900 receiving yards.
In Murray, Georgia had a four-year starter at quarterback from 2010-13, during which he threw for 13,166 yards and 121 scores. Bailey was a standout linebacker for the Bulldogs from 1999-2002, and as a senior he was a semifinalist for the both the Butkus and Lombari Awards.
This year’s Florida-Georgia game is set for 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 27 in Jacksonville.
