Four SEC quarterbacks were named to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm watch list Thursday. Ole Miss’ Chad Kelly, Tennessee’s Joshua Dobbs, Florida’s Luke Del Rio and Texas A&M’s Trevor Knight were included on the preseason list of 43 passers.
Kelly led the conference with 4,042 yards and 31 touchdowns on 298-of-458 passing. Dobbs had 2,291 yards — second most among returning SEC quarterbacks — 15 touchdowns and five interceptions on 205-of-344 passing.
Knight joined Texas A&M as a graduate transfer this offseason. He threw for 3,424 yards, 25 touchdowns and 19 interceptions, while also rushing for 853 yards and eight touchdowns during his three seasons at Oklahoma.
Del Rio transfered to Florida prior to last season, but needed to sit out due to NCAA rules. He was named the Gators’ starting quarterback during spring practice.
Oddly enough, former Tennessee QB Nathan Peterman also appeared on the watch list.
