How’s that for a statement victory?
Midway through the third quarter during Saturday’s convincing win over 18th-ranked Auburn, coach Les Miles said he didn’t realize sophomore tailback Leonard Fournette was just 23 yards away from breaking LSU’s single-game rushing record.
Had he known, Miles probably would’ve kept him in the game.

Propelled by Fournette’s career-best 228-yard effort, the Tigers ran away from Auburn, 45-21, to jump five spots in Sunday’s Week 4 AP Top 25 to No. 8 in the country.
The Tigers also received a first-place vote.
It was LSU’s (2-0) second straight win over a nationally-ranked team from the SEC West following its canceled season opener.
According to most analysts, Fournette is now the SEC’s Heisman front-runner.
