The final appearance of the legendary Lee Corso on ESPN’s College GameDay is set to take place on Saturday, and the bittersweet farewell is sure to be an emotional moment for college football fanatics everywhere.

Corso has been one of the seminal figures in the sport for decades, having been a core part of Saturdays in the fall since he first appeared on the College GameDay back in 1987.

The departure of such a key media figure and a man who has given so much to the sport will naturally be a significant event, and it will reportedly also be aired live by ESPN’s main rival, FOX.

According to a report from On3’s Brett McMurphy, FOX plans to air Corso’s final headgear selection live during the network’s own pregame show, Big Noon Kickoff, a move that would be rather unprecedented.

The selection will also reportedly be aired live on the stadium jumbotron inside The Shoe right before kickoff between No. 1 Texas and No. 3 Ohio State, which is the host site for both College GameDay and Big Noon Kickoff for Week 1.

FOX’s Tom Rinaldi and Chris Fallica are both expected to have tributes for Corso during Big Noon Kickoff as well. Both spent several years working with Corso at ESPN.

It is truly a testament to the impact Corso has had on the sport of college football that two competing media brands can reportedly come together to ensure his final moment on air reaches the largest number of people.
