Odell Beckham Jr. is undoubtably one of the most recognizable players off the field. Whenever Beckham is at an awards show or sitting court side at an NBA game, it’s hard not to miss his blonde hair.

Jason Whitlock, a longtime columnist and a host of FOX Sports 1’s “Speak For Yourself,” believes that Beckham is vastly overrated and only famous because of his signature look. The comments came in a segment prompted by recent comments from the New York Giants owner that Beckham will get paid what he’s worth. The show was debating how much Beckham should be paid when they brought up the former LSU wideout’s fame. When co-host Colin Cowherd called Beckham “easily the most fascinating New York sports figure by a mile,” Whitlock wasn’t having it.

“You’ve fallen for the okeydoke. Odell Beckham Jr. is the most overhyped, overrated — and he is a great player but he is overrated,” Whitlock said. “You put him and Carmelo Anthony in the same room and watch what happens. It isn’t even close. If Odell, not for the blonde hair, people wouldn’t even know who the hell Odell Beckham Jr. is.”

Having recorded 4,000 receiving yards and 35 touchdowns in a three-year career, along with viral highlights like his famous one-handed catch, it’s safe to say that many football fans would know who Beckham is regardless of the color of his hair.
